Genesis

Genesis traces back to 2001, when the first Genesis bike — the Day One — was produced under the Ridgeback brand. It proved popular enough that in 2006 it became a label in its own right: a British bike brand built around steel construction and an ethos of function over form. The Croix de Fer, launched in 2008, became Genesis’s most influential model — a steel drop-bar bike that could take wide tyres, mudguards and disc brakes, effectively an early version of what would later be called a gravel bike.

Genesis has built its reputation on durability and adventure as much as outright performance: Vin Cox set the Guinness World Record for fastest circumnavigation of the globe by bicycle on a Croix de Fer in 2010, and the model has since been ridden across continents by long-distance adventurers. Genesis also sponsored the Madison Genesis professional road team from 2013 to 2019, with Connor Swift winning the British road race championship on a Genesis Zero SL in 2018.
