What’s the actual difference between Basic and Retül?
Data depth and permanent records. Basic uses visual assessment and feel (effective for 80% of riders). Retül uses 3D motion capture, tracking joint angles to the degree and giving you a permanent digital blueprint.
Choose Retül if: You have chronic pain unsolved by previous fits, you’re ordering a custom bike, or you want a permanent position record for future bikes.
Choose Basic if: You’re new to cycling, want general comfort improvements, or just need a solid foundation without the data overhead.
I had a fit years ago — do I need another one?
Probably. If it’s been several years, your body has changed. Injuries, surgeries, age-related flexibility loss, new components—all of these shift your ideal position. “Legacy refresh” fits are common for returning customers who haven’t been fitted in years.
Do you fit gravel bikes? Mountain bikes? Touring bikes?
Yes. We fit all bike types: road, TT, triathlon, gravel, MTB, touring, cyclocross. Choose Basic Road (£75) for gravel/MTB/touring bikes, or Retül Road (£175) if you want 3D motion capture and a permanent digital record.
Can you fit my road bike with clip-on aero bars?
Absolutely. Road-to-tri conversions are one of our most common requests (7.5% of all fits). You’ll need a Basic TT Fit (£95) or Retül TT Fit (£195) to properly dial in both your base bar position and aero position.
I’m buying a new bike — do I need a fit first?
It’s highly recommended, especially for custom builds. Our Retül fit gives you exact stack and reach measurements so you order the right frame size first time. Many customers come to us specifically for pre-purchase sizing before they order.
Whether you’re buying an Orbea, Argon 18, Colnago, or any other brand, those measurements are universal and transfer to any manufacturer’s geometry charts.
Can I just get a saddle fit without a full bike fit?
We offer saddle assessment as part of every Basic and Retül fit. While we can do a standalone saddle check (sit-bone measurement, saddle shape/profile matching), we’ve found that saddle comfort is heavily influenced by overall bike position—particularly saddle height, fore-aft position, and handlebar reach.
Our recommendation: Start with a Basic Fit (£75, 1 hour). This includes full saddle optimisation plus corrects the other factors that often cause saddle discomfort. If you’re still having issues after addressing position, we can help you trial different saddle models.
Already had a bike fit recently and just need saddle guidance? Call us on 01362 690069 to discuss—we’ll advise on the best approach.

Fit Report & Follow-Up
Digital blueprint for future bikes + 3-6 week check-in.
Just had a basic bike fit for my road bike and the difference on my next ride was noticeable! More comfortable, no neck pain, and I learned valuable tips like bending my arms more. Definitely a beneficial experience for a novice like me – better positioning made all the difference.
New to cycling I was experiencing some knee pain after riding and after unsuccessfully experimenting with adjusting the bike myself I decided to book a basic bike fit with Ben at Tri Harder. The service was excellent and has improved the comfort and more importantly the pain in my knees significantly. Ben was even happy for me to come back to make further adjustments for free should I wish. Highly recommended.
I recently had a full road bike fitting at Triharder with the amazing team of fitters, Ben and Luke, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine friendliness, and their passion for their work was evident throughout the entire process.
