The ISM PR 1.0 is a noseless saddle that moves your weight onto bone instead of soft tissue, with more 50-series foam padding than ISM’s other performance saddles. Description
ISM PR 1.0 Saddle
A noseless saddle with extra padding
The ISM PR 1.0 takes the nose off the saddle completely. Instead of sitting on soft tissue, you’re supported on your sit bones and pubic rami, which ISM designs specifically to reduce numbness and keep blood flowing on longer rides. PR stands for Performance Recreation: the same pressure-relief concept as ISM’s race saddles, with more cushioning for a more forgiving ride.
Who the PR 1.0 suits
It’s a strong choice for triathletes and road riders who’ve struggled with a traditional saddle but find ISM’s firmer performance models too much. The 50-series foam works in padded shorts or in everyday clothing, which also makes it a good fit for hybrids and indoor trainers. A reshaped profile gives more thigh clearance and freedom to move, and the rear hook makes it quick to rack the bike in transition. The PR 1.0 is on ISM’s UCI-compliant list.
Setting it up
An ISM doesn’t fit like a traditional saddle, so don’t copy your old position across. Start with the saddle around 5mm lower than your current one, and set it back so the front arms sit roughly where a normal nose would end, 5–8cm further back. Level the flat front section rather than the rear, which rises by 5 degrees. Many riders need a setback seatpost to get there, and short rides at first help while you adapt to sitting on bone rather than soft tissue.

Is the ISM PR 1.0 good for triathlon?
Yes. Its noseless design takes pressure off soft tissue when you’re rolled forward on the aero bars, and the rear hook makes racking in transition quick. If you prefer a firmer, more race-focused ISM, look at the PN or PS models.
How should I set up an ISM saddle?
Set it roughly 5mm lower than your current saddle and further back, so the front arms sit 5–8cm behind where a traditional nose would be. Level the flat front section and avoid tilting it down more than 1–2 degrees.
Will I need a new seatpost?
Possibly. Because the nose is removed, many riders need a setback seatpost to get far enough back. Check your current position before buying.
Does it take time to get used to?
Usually, yes. You’ll be sitting on bone rather than soft tissue, so some tenderness at the contact points is normal at first. Keep early rides short and build up gradually.
What’s the difference between the PR 1.0 and other ISM saddles?
The PR range (Performance Recreation) has more padding than ISM’s PN and PS performance saddles. It’s aimed at riders who want ISM’s pressure relief with a softer, more forgiving feel.
Is the PR 1.0 UCI legal?
Yes. ISM lists the PR 1.0 as UCI compliant.
