The Windchill Jacket II is designed around that distinction: a windproof shell that stops heat loss on the exposed side of the ride, while moving sweat away from your body so you’re not left clammy and chilled on the climbs. It’s built for road riding but flexible enough to cover gravel and trail days too, with a fit that isn’t so race-tight it fights you in bulkier winter layers.
Fabric & Weather Protection
The jacket uses a stretch, windproof thermal fabric with a grid-backed interior throughout — this is what does the actual work of keeping the cold air out while letting built-up heat and moisture escape. A durable water repellent (DWR) finish is layered on top, so light rain and road spray bead off rather than soaking in. Endura rate it for genuinely cold, blustery conditions rather than sustained heavy rain — for a proper downpour you’d want a dedicated waterproof shell over the top.
Fit & Practical Details
Large, zipped underarm vents let you dump heat quickly if you’re pushing pace on a climb, without having to stop and unzip the whole jacket. No — it’s built for wind resistance and cold with a DWR finish that handles light rain and spray. For sustained heavy rain you’d want a dedicated waterproof shell layered over the top.
Will it fit over a base layer and jersey in winter?
Yes. It’s a Race Fit but cut with winter layering in mind, so there’s room for a thermal base layer and jersey underneath without feeling restrictive.
Is it suitable for gravel or off-road riding, or just road?
Endura designs it primarily for road but describe the fit as road, gravel or trail friendly — it’ll cover mixed-terrain winter riding without issue.
