Assos Mille GT Wind Vest S11

£105.00

The Assos MILLE GT Wind Vest S11 does considerably more than block a breeze. The new Buster textile now covers both front and back panels — full wind and light rain protection all round — while packing down smaller than the previous version so it fits in a jersey pocket when conditions improve. A double-slider zipper lets you vent from top or bottom and reach jersey pockets without removing the vest. The wind protection layer you’ll actually use.

Assos Mille GT Wind Vest S11

    The Smarter Wind Vest

Vests live or die by how useful they are in the real world — easy to pull on mid-ride, easy to stow when you warm up, not a faff when you need something from a back pocket. The MILLE GT Wind Vest S11 has been updated with all of that in mind, in a Golden Yellow colourway that’s easy to spot in traffic and looks the part on the road.

    Full Protection, Front and Back

The key upgrade in the S11 is the Buster textile, now deployed across both the front and the back panel. Previous versions used mesh on the back — effective enough on the front, but exposed when the wind swings round or rain comes in from behind. Buster is a close-knit woven material with an eco-friendly DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment that causes water to bead and roll off rather than soak in. Wind-rated at 5/5, light rain and road spray are handled too.
Side panels in Sens Air fabric add stretch and breathability where you need it — the vest moves with you rather than fighting you on the bike.

Packable When You Don’t Need It

Buster also packs to a lower volume than the previous textile, making the vest genuinely pocket-friendly when conditions improve mid-ride. No excuses for leaving it at home on an uncertain morning.

    Double-Slider Zipper

A detail that sounds minor until you’re halfway up a climb sweating through your jersey. The double-slider zipper lets you open from the top or bottom independently — vent from the hem to dump heat, or unzip from the top to reach jersey pockets without fully opening the vest. Properly thought through.

FAQ

Questions and answers relating to Assos Mille GT Wind Vest S11

Is the MILLE GT Wind Vest waterproof?

Answer

No. Assos rate it 1/5 for waterproofing. The Buster fabric has an eco DWR treatment that repels light rain and road spray effectively, but it’s not designed for sustained heavy rain. Think of it as your go-to for cool, breezy mornings and unpredictable spring or autumn days rather than full wet-weather riding.

What's new compared to the previous GT Wind Vest?

Answer

Three meaningful updates: Buster textile now covers the back panel (previously mesh, so exposed to wind and rain from behind), the fabric packs to a smaller volume making it easier to pocket mid-ride, and a double-slider zipper replaces the single-slider for better on-bike ventilation and access.

Can I reach my jersey pockets while wearing it?

Answer

Yes — that’s exactly what the double-slider zipper is designed for. Unzip from the top to access rear jersey pockets without having to remove the vest or fully open the front. Useful when you’re carrying food or a phone and need it on the move.

What temperature range is it designed for?

Answer

Assos rate it for +12°C to above +21°C, making it most useful as a transitional layer — early morning starts, cool descents after a climb, or the variable conditions of a British spring or autumn. When it warms up, it packs small enough to stow in a jersey pocket rather than turning back for it.

How does the fit work over a jersey?

Answer

The MILLE GT Wind Vest uses Assos’s regularFit — body-contoured but with enough room to layer cleanly over a jersey without bunching or restricting movement. If you’re wearing a particularly thick jersey or multiple base layers underneath, sizing up is worth considering.
