    The G4-X accepts tyres up to 45mm nominal width, giving genuine capability on rougher gravel sectors without sacrificing the frame’s race-focused handling.

  • Is the G4-X only available as a race bike, or can it handle longer rides?

    It’s built primarily for speed and competitive handling, but it’s not race-only — the frame has four mounting points for bottle cages or small bags, so it can be set up for longer days out as well.

  • What bottom bracket and cockpit does the G4-X use?

    It runs a standard T47 bottom bracket. For the cockpit, you can choose either a traditional stem-and-handlebar 2-piece setup or Colnago’s integrated CC.01 Wide cockpit, depending on your fit and preference.

  • Can I build the G4-X with a different groupset to what's shown on the site?

Colnago call it 'not merely an all-road bike' and that's fair — this is a race bike that happens to take gravel tyres. If you want Italian racing pedigree with real off-road capability rather than a gravel bike that's just been made lighter, this is it.

What we like

  • Four mounting points for bags/bottles — long-adventure capable despite the race-focused positioning
  • T47 bottom bracket and reinforced seatpost lock — built for demanding off-road use, not just marketing language

Worth knowing

  • £5,999 entry — same bracket as the (now discontinued) C68 Allroad, one of the most expensive frames in the range
