    The sophisticated ARC 1400 DICUT wheels represent the latest DNA of the 1400 level of DT Swiss and our aero partner SWISS SIDE. Available in disc brake version in three different rim heights (80 mm, 62 mm and 50 mm), the AERO+ profile rims set a new standard in aerodynamic performance and keep aero drag as low as possible under different crosswind angles. In moderate side wind conditions, riders benefit from propulsion through a sailing effect. LEGENDARY RELIABILTY The patented freewheel system, which features high-precision star ratchets, guarantees top performance and reliability. The simultaneous engagement of the ratchet teeth makes the Ratchet System extremely reliable since the loads are distributed equally across a large contact surface.
PRO LOCK TECHNO­LOGY Pro Lock® is a process where a patented, dual compound, adhesive liquid is injected into the nipple thread, allowing for extremely durable wheel builds. By threading the nipple onto the spoke the adhesive is activated and starts to harden. Re-truing the wheel is still possible after the adhesive has hardened completely, with only a minimal decrease of its thread-lock function.
BEARING TECHNO­LOGY DT Swiss hubs are designed to function optimally once installed in a bicycle. To achieve this, the clamping force created by the wheel mounting system must be taken into account when constructing a hub. HUB CONSTRUCTION DT Swiss hubs are engineered to have the optimum axial and radial bearing clearance when the hubs are properly installed in the wheel and bike. To achieve this, it is important to assemble the hub in the correct order. To start, the first bearing is pressed into the hub shell so that it sits flush with both the shell and the axle. The second bearing is then pressed in so it sits flush with the axle, but not with the hub shell. Therefore the axle is minimally compressed. The bearing sits at a press-fit, in which the outer bearing ring can no longer move relative to the hub shell.
TUBELESS TECHNOLOGY All DT Swiss wheelsets are tubeless compatible and the ASM versions come tubeless ready, equipped with tubeless tape and valves. Tubeless tires have a number of advantages over the conventional combination of tube and tire: without risking snakebites, the tire can be run with lower pressures providing better grip. The lower pressure also results in a more comfortable ride. Eliminating the tube means there is no friction between tube and tire and therefore less rolling resistance when the tire rolls over the ground and obstacles. If tubeless sealant is used, the tire can self-seal stings and small cuts. A big advantage for all those who like to ride for long and far away from the next bikeshop.
TRANSLATIONAL DRAG Translational drag is the aerodynamic force in the riding direction that slows the cyclist down. It consists of the frontal area of the cyclist (75 %), the road bike and its components (25 %), and speed. To minimize this translational drag, the surface of the overall system needs to be minimized while streamlining the entire road bike and cyclist as far as possible. If you want to be faster, the key is to reduce the aerodynamic drag of the complete system of road bike and cyclist as the force increases exponentially. From 15 km/h upwards, aerodynamic drag is the greatest resistance a cyclist has to overcome. As the front wheel contributes 8 % of total drag, the wheel’s behavior plays a significant role.
